STRONGER DOCKS
2010-05

Pilothouse Marina is upgrading the docks! To complement our high-strength steel pilings, we have upgraded our tie-down points (bull rails) on the docks.Dock 3 upgrades have been completed in early April, and new bull rails have just been installed to dock 1. The new rails, featuring 4-1/4 x 4-1/4 beams with large gaps for convenient snag-free tying, are bolted every 3 feet (75 cm), providing unparalleled strength.

 

BOATING COURSES
2010-01

The Pilothouse Marina is now licensed to offer the PCOC course. Transport Canada requires that all operators of a pleasure craft fitted with a motor and used for recreational purposes are to have a proof of competency ( Pleasure Craft Operators Card (PCOC) /boaters card or equivalent ) on board at all times. The Pilothouse Marina is now able to offer PCOC courses and help you obtain the PCOC card. Call the office for more information.

 

CABINS
2010-01

Unit 5, the waterfront 1-br cabin on stilts, is undergoing a top-down renovation. The cielings and walls are completely re-done, and the new flooring is being installed later this month. Re-insulation is planned for early Febuary, and the cabin will be ready for March. We are now accepting reservations for April 1 for this lovely 750-sq-ft one-bedroom with all-South, all-water facing windows and its on-the-water deck.

Winter mooring rates now in effect

After a fantastic first season, we are now ramping up for the winter season. Our winter rate is $1.00 per foot per night, with the fourth night free. We also still have some winter term moorage available. Check the rates sheet for prices.

Marina shed renovations completed

The marina shed renovations are complete!! The shed is re-shingled and painted, and now is a beautiful focus point at the base of the ramp.

Pilothouse Marina is now compliant with International Ship and Port Facility (ISPS) rules established under Marine Transportation Security Regulations (MTSR)

This certification enables the Pilothouse Marina to welcome SOLAS ships and international commercial ships to Pender Harbour. These ships are only authorized to use MSTR compliant facilities to land or load passengers or cargo. The Pilothouse Marina currently the only such facility in BC outside of a major urban areas or industrial port. The first scheduled visit to our facility is The World, a luxury cruise ship.

Unit 2 renovations completed

Laundry renovations finished

The laundry renovation is finished, and the laundry facility is available. One set of coin-operated machines is in operation: Wash $2.00. Dry: $2.00 per 20 minutes

The exterior of the shed is not finished yet, and the shower is expected to be operational on 6 June.

Welcome to the returning yacht clubs.

We are happy to report that Burrard Yacht Club and False Creek Yacht Club have both returned for another season at the Pilothous Marina. Burrard Yacht Club members will be docking on the Westmost U made up of docks 1S,2E,3W. False Creek Yacht Club has reserved dock 2W. We remind club members to call the marina and notify us if you will be arriving after 18:00 so we can ensure to reserve you a spot at your dock. Call until 17:00.

Shower and laundry shed is under construction

We have started the renovations of the shower and laundry shed. The shower will feature stone floors and tile walls, an enlarged shower area, and new-and-improved water-saving toilet. The laundry area will feature new walls, cielings, and floors and a dedicated folding station. We hope to have the work finished in May.

While the shower is out of service, please use the shower and restroom in unit 5. Follow the signs to go there. Since unit 5 does not have a coin-operated shower, the fixed price for a shower is $5.00. Pay the marina staff or drop the money in the dock drop box

Electrical upgrade completed.

Extensive electrical work has been done on the docks to upgrade the marina power capacity. We have added carrying capacity to docks 1,2,3 to support higher boat power loads. Three new kiosks have been installed on docks 1,2,3, The dock shed electrical outlets all have been upgraded. All 15A electrical outlets have been replaced with new GFCI equipped receptacles for increased safety.

Dock 3: 2x30A, 4x15A.

Shed: 2x30A, 6x15A. spare capacity: 60A

Unit 4A and 4B renovations are finished. Each unit is self-contained with dishes and cooking equipment. Bring your own bedding. Unit 4A: one king-size bed. Unit 4B: queen size bed

Pile Driving & Refastening of all docks is complete. Dock 1 - one steel dolphin. Dock 2 - two steel dolphins. Dock 3 dolphin refastened & capped. Dock 6 - new triple dolphin wood. Due to rock on the seabed we where unable to add steel dolphins on Dock 6 - mid dock, and Dock 7.

Lumbers replaced on Dock 1, 2 and 7.

Multiple planks replaced on Docks 1, 2 and 6. This will be ongoing during the winter.

The pile drivers have arrived. Work will be performed by Mountain Marine.

The Marina has started Phase I improvements. DANGER: Loose & Missing Planks throughout the marina. Pile Drivers are scheduled to come in November 18, 2008 to replace & sister 9 new steel pilings and re-fastening the marina.
